Lightning. California’s Pure Storage wants to conquer Europe from Prague with lightning technology
Home to California’s Mountain View, Pure Storage in the middle of Silicon Valley has held a stable position among technology giants such as Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Apple, Tesla and Google over the years. Thanks to revolutionary innovations, promising companies have quickly become one of the world’s most important players in the field of data storage. Pure Storage has now built a European home in Karlín, Prague. And just like in the US, it wants to show companies in EMEA markets that working with data can be intuitive, easy and cool.
“Our solution for large volumes of data is based on flash technology, which everyone knows, for example, from iPhones. Above all, it is faster, more reliable, simpler and ultimately cheaper than obsolete hard drives, ”describes the main advantages of Pure Storage Jacob Ringler, who manages the research and development center of the California company in Prague.
The company was founded in 2009, two years later it introduced its first products and the start-up started with a clear goal-to change the market. Succeeded. Pure Storage attracted investors and in 2015 it successfully entered the New York Stock Exchange. It has become a global player.
The magic of lightning
By pure sponsorship of innovative hardware, but a big advantage over the competition, you can mainly thanks to your own software. Its operating system can take full advantage of the biggest benefits of flash storage – fast access to data, easy maintenance, security and minimal error rate.
Repositories are traditionally one of the most complex parts of corporate data centers. But Pure Storage is breaking this tradition. Its philosophy is based on the fact that corporate storage can be as simple and scalable as the cloud.
In addition to speed, Flash technology also exceeds the performance and density of storage arrays, which means that even with large volumes of data, the number of cabinets per pair of obsolete racks can be reduced. There is no confusing change of cables and companies no longer need so many places for their data centers. In addition, it primarily saves maintenance costs as well as time. “With easy management, a corporate IT team can have much more time for tasks that make a real difference to the business,” said Jacob Ringler.
Cleaning in dates
Pure Storage offers its solution as a service, as well as tools for protection, backup and other work with data. Part of the service is a regular upgrade, during which it is not necessary to make regular outages. “I sometimes get reports from my banks that none of their services are available over the weekend because the system will be maintained. This does not exist for our products at all. We take care of our customers so that they do not notice any maintenance or upgrades at all, ”adds Ringler.
Powerful, demanding, yet extremely simple storage can help companies unravel the complex knots they have become stuck in IT over time. Many of them bet only on the cloud and without a strategy they let the cloud environment swell uncontrollably to a state that they don’t even know exactly where their data is stored.
Modern flash storage will allow them to get data back under control and build a much clearer multicloud environment around it. “They can unify cloud ecosystems and seamlessly transition between private and public cloud. This will significantly increase the maturity of data analysts and accelerate the entire digital transformation of the company. That’s our goal – to help innovate with a modern data environment that is as user-friendly as possible, ”says Ringler.
Prague strategy
The Prague headquarters, from which Pure wants to manage its expansion into new markets and strengthen its position as a global player, should also contribute to this. The company has built its own laboratory in Karlín, recruits developers and testers, as well as product managers, and integrates financial and sales teams.
Pure experts in Prague develop innovative solutions and also directly participate in specific projects for customers. Through modern technology, it will help them improve their business and look for new opportunities.
“The goal was not to move only a certain part of the business to Prague, but to develop our business throughout the EMEA region and at the same time focus on research and development. Prague has an ideal location, plenty of talented people and excellent universities. Gradually, we want to gain talent from neighboring countries and we believe that we will grow at a similarly high rate as in the last 11 years in the rest of the world, “adds Jacob Ringler.
