Corona virus map: Prague is no longer the worst region
According to data from Tuesday morning, Pelhřimov Region has 223 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week. According to Jiří Kos from the Vysočín hygiene station, it is now impossible to point to a single outbreak of infection in the region.
“It’s scattered like a shot from a shotgun,” said Kos for Právo, who recalled that the first outbreak in Pelhřimovsk was in a factory in Pacov, and another in a retirement home in Humpolec.
SARS-CoV-2 has already claimed a million lives and has become the most destructive virus of the 21st century

The infection also affected the Pelhřimov town hall. “I wouldn’t talk about an outbreak there, it’s just a few cases, but as it moves further into families, the octopus is spreading a bit in the contacts of families and family members,” added the hygienist.
Kos takes the fact that the region is now among the most problematic. “These are more or less statistical games,” he noted, adding that Pelhřimovsko is the region’s least numerous district with roughly 72,000 inhabitants.
According to him, from a long-term perspective, the districts in the Highlands are beginning to compare. “Increased incidence is regularly moving from district to district. Pelhřimovsko is interesting because there was no one there for a very long time,” added Kos.
Problematic Uherskohradišťsko
The second “worst” is Uherskohradišťsko with 219 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. “We attribute the high number of sick people to higher tourism in this locality,” Jana Eliška Hošková from the Regional Hygiene Station of the Zlín Region told Práva.
Uherskohradišťsko has been at the forefront of the pandemic in terms of the number of positive patients for covid-19 since the spring months. “Initially, the coronavirus appeared in larger quantities in Uherskobrodsk, then it was Vlčnov and other municipalities,” added Hošková.

The region is one of the sought-after tourist destinations – because of the monuments, the Baťa canal, as well as because of the large number of wine cellars and traditional folklore events. In the course of September, feasts are held every year in Slovácko, accompanied by festive merriment, although a number of municipalities preferred to cancel the celebrations this year.
The town hall of Uhersko-Hradiště proceeded in a similar way after an agreement with hygiene, when it canceled the traditional Slovak wine festival, which was supposed to start in September. Instead, the owners of wine cellars in Hradisht Mařatice organized the so-called (non) Wine Festival, which was a much smaller event.
Despite the cancellation of the festivities, the mayor of Uherské Hradiště Stanislav Blaha (ODS) does not see a fundamental problem in holding social, cultural or sports events. “None of the actions carried out in recent weeks or months were in conflict with the currently valid hygiene measures in the Czech Republic or the Zlín region,” Blaha told Právu.
Favorable numbers for Českolipsk
Next in the order of districts with the worst development is the district of Praha-západ (207), the other districts are already below the threshold of 200 cases. Just below this limit is Prague (199) followed by Prague-east (193).
The situation is not favorable even in Náchodsk (181 cases), Kroměřížsk (175), Liberec (171) or Pilsen (173), and a number of other districts also have over 100 cases.
On the contrary, the situation now looks best in Českolipsk (27 cases), Tachovsk (33) and in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou district (35).
