Ligue 1: Lens falls at home, Rennes and Monaco ensure, Lyon flounders
This Wednesday, Lens let slip its second place and conceded its first defeat at home this season.
Lens loses its second place
The crazy series of RC lens ended on Wednesday. This season, the Sang et Or had won all of their 10 home games, allowing them to score 45 points at mid-season and to be a serious candidate for the title by competing with PSG. But this Wednesday, Franck Haise’s men were surprised by a team of Nice which is definitely better since the arrival of Didier Digard. With a goal of Gaetan Laborde , the Aiglons continue their good series with 3 wins and a draw in the last four games. Lens therefore loses its second place in favor of OM, while Nice moves up in the first part of the table.
Rennes on a trip against Strasbourg
You will have to rely on the Rennais Stadium in the race for Europe. After their defeat in Lorient, the Bretons reacted perfectly against Strasbourg. A clear 3-0 victory at home thanks to a doubleAmine Gouiri and a but of the young Desire Doue. The Rennais remain 5th and leave the Alsatians in a very sad 18th place.
Monaco was hot!
After a successful draw in Marseille, monaco surely did not expect to be so jostled at home by a team ofAuxerre in great difficulty lately (none but in the last four matches). After achievements of Wissam Ben Yedder and Eliesse Ben Seghirthe Monegasques led 2-0 at the half-hour mark. But the Auxerrois came back with better intentions in the second period and came back to 2-1 thanks to Mathis Abline. 8 minutes from time, Breel’s embolism offer a quiet end to the match for his team thanks to his 11th but of the season, but in stride, Nuno DaCosta allows his team to return to one length again.
Unfortunately for AJA, they failed to equalise. ASM retains 4th place as Auxerre heads straight for a return to Ligue 2…
Lyon is still trampling
The situation is not getting better for theOlympique Lyonnais. Uninspired at home, Laurent Blanc’s men tried a lot (27 shots) but failed to break the lock on the Brest Stadium, which draws 0-0 at Groupama Stadium. Les Gones remain stuck in 10th place, Brest remains very close to the red zone.
