Election 2023 | For the first time, there is a candidate who was the immediate favorite as president
It’s not just a simple question of more than half of the population, but rather of the sympathy of more than a quarter of the Polish electorate. More than half a million people voted for Pavlo, i.e. 76.36 percent.
To that, e Peter Paul he is a politician who has not particularly built up his support in the capital for a long time and people have only just gotten to know him in recent months, his election result here is admirable, comments political scientist Luk Jelnek on the second round of the presidential election.
He added, however, that the main work for Petr Pavel was done by the defeated candidate a f movement YES Andrej Babi, and in the style that led the campaign. According to Jelenko, she mobilized the cause of the electorate, but unfortunately for Babie, it was the electorate of Petr Pavle.
Full potential
O The Schwarzenbergs and Draho political scientists claimed after the elections ten or five years ago that even in Prague they were not able to fully realize their potential. In 2013, Schwarzenberg won the vote of only two Praan aunts in the second round, with 66 percent.
He did better, but not by much, five years later in the final against Zeman Ji Draho, when he scored 68.75 percent. In both cases, however, Zeman avoided the main city in his campaign and did not focus on its citizens, so the support of his aunt Praan was a good result for him.
In contrast, Petr Pavel took all the votes he could. It would be difficult for Pavel to get more votes, their reservoir here is so bottomless. Even in Prague, there are people who are not doing the best and do not consider themselves to be the greatest advocates of the transformation, so they tend to support any late candidate, Jelnek explains.
According to the political scientist, Pavlov managed to sway the votes of all the other candidates in Prague Jaroslav Bata (SPD).
Babi received almost 128 thousand votes in the first round, Baťa about 18 thousand. In the second round, one hundred and fifty and a half thousand voters cast their votes for the sleepless finalist. After taking into account the two-percent turnout, these results are very close.
Like Zeman and Babi, he did not try very hard to win over the inhabitants of the metropolis to his side. According to Jelenko, however, a performance, for example, in the sdlitch, where he did not lose as overwhelmingly as in the city center, would give him a maximum of a tenth of a percent more votes.
What Babi should have done, both nationally and in Prague, and failed to do, was to fight for the classic vote of the left and the center. Apart from his solid core of voters, he mainly focused on the late, protesting voters, and that turned out to be a wrong decision, Jelnek describes.
Even thanks to this, Prague and the rest of the republic voted as a staunch right-winger, and the last time he sent left-winger Zeman to Hrad.
Just two precincts

Out of all 1,124 constituencies, Babi only managed to win in two in the second round. However, he won the election at the meeting in Bohnice only thanks to the errors of the election commission, which accidentally switched the votes of the candidates. The mistake was caught too late, so it will remain in the electoral database as the former prime minister.
Druh, with a well-deserved victory, Babi recorded in the precinct near a small home for the elderly, where he won 51 percent. Babi was the only one to bypass this precinct from the first round. In the precinct, which includes only the Home for the elderly in Blice, he managed to win only the belt after winning in the first round.
According to political scientists, Andrej Babi should have had the most support at the polls. Jelnek believes that the wall here could have been created by Vtinov Mnán, whose work is especially revered by all parties and in Prague.
