TER traffic between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais will resume on February 3
Work was necessary after the collapse of an embankment in Wimereux last November. , traffic is suspended between the two cities but the resumption is scheduled for next week.
Since November 7 and the collapse of part of the Wimereux embankment due to heavy rain, SNCF traffic between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais has been interrupted.
No more passenger trains are running at the moment and this makes daily travel very complicated for several thousand people on the coast. But good news for users, traffic should resume on February 3 in a partial and gradual manner.
After more than two months of work and 25 agents working on the job day and night, the comfort of the embankment of Wimereux no longer shows any sign of land subsidence.
“To reinforce this embankment, we made anchors which were drilled five meters deep, on which we will come and lay scales”, explains Geoffrey Evrard, project manager at SNCF Réseau, at the microphone of BFM Grand Littoral.
Still some night work
With these geotechnical works, the area is completely secure. The last phase of work will take place at night so that traffic can gradually and partially resume next week.
“We are going to restore traffic with a speed of 40km / h. The other lane (…) circular at normal speed, therefore at 140km / h”, confirms the project manager. “This lifting of speed 40 on track 2, we are considering it for mid-February, if we manage to keep the schedule”.
TER trains between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais will once again be circular from Friday 3 February. But beware, this slow recovery will cause some disruption. SNCF invites all travelers to find out about travel times and travel time when traffic reopens.
In addition, the circulation of TERGV will resume on Monday February 6, announces the SNCF in a tweet.
