Derby as a fight for second place. KP defends the title of female rulers of Brno, Žabiny wants revenge
In October, they were decided by a single point. After six mutual losses, KP Brno stepped on their city rival from Žabin, so on Saturday they will confirm their role as Brno’s leaders. However, the home team Žabiny will go into the duel, which starts at five o’clock in the afternoon in the Rosnička hall, in a better mood after the cup matches.

They currently hold the second place in the table of the highest Czech competition, but they have an absolutely identical match record with KP. That makes Saturday’s match more important. “We have a lot to give back to Králová Polí, we have to learn from the mistakes we made in the last game against each other. We are looking forward to the derby, I expect a very tough fight,” described Žabin center Natálie Stoupalová.
Before the derby, both Brno teams played in the domestic cup on Wednesday. While Žabiny calmly defeated Hradec Lvice 81:62 and once again advanced to the Final4, KP unexpectedly stumbled on the Ostrava board. Even an eleven-point lead just after halftime did not help him progress, as the home players handled the end of the exciting match better.
