Date NBM | Before New Year’s Eve, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova borrowed less than the previous year
In December of last year, new loans granted amounted to 4,378.3 million lei, down by almost 7% compared to December 2021. The most requested term remains loans with 2 to 5 years, with a weight of of 47.1% of the total loans granted, reports IPN.
According to the data of the National Bank of Moldova, 69% of the credits are in the national currency, which constituted 3,023.1 million lei. A little over 29% were loans in value, whose volume recalculated in Moldovan lei was 1,273.6 million lei. And almost 2% were the credits attached to the exchange rate, they constitute 81.6 million lei.
The average nominal rate for new loans granted in the national currency was 13.97%, for those in value – 5.13%, and for those attached to the value rate – 5.48%.
From the perspective of the purpose of loans granted to individuals, consumer loans held the largest share (81.6%) and were granted with an average rate of 16.90% (+1.47 percentage points compared to the previous month and +6 .54 percentage points compared to December 2021).
The average rate on real estate loans granted in the national currency increased by 0.12 percentage points compared to the previous month and by 5.44 percentage points compared to December 2021 and constituted 13.01%.
The NBM states that 57.5% of all real estate loans were granted in the national currency. Consumer loans were also mainly granted in the national currency (99.9% of all consumer loans).
Loans in national currency with terms from 2 to 5 years (1,408.4 million lei, the highest volume in the reporting month) were granted with an average rate of 14.11% (for legal entities – with 12.87 %, natural persons – with 16.74%, and natural persons – with 16.86%).
