Russian oil companies are ready to participate in joint development projects at the birthplace in Turkmenistan.
Moscow, January 20 – IA Neftegaz.RU. Russia and Turkmenistan envisage expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
Prospects were discussed on January 19, 2023 at the Russian-Turkmen business forum taking place in Ashgabat.
Prime Minister of the Russian Federation M. Mishustin and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan R. Meredov at the plenary forum with an opening speech.
M. Mishustin noted that the volume of trade between Russia and Turkmenistan is about 2 billion US dollars. They have the potential to increase, not only through increasing trade flows, but also through the creation of production, the development of modern industry, minerals, and commercial facilities.
In turn, R. Meredov is the main sector of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation – oil and gas management, transport and logistics sector, shipbuilding.
In Turkmenistan are actively working Tatneft and Gazprom.
On the official state website “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” the intention to further expand joint work in the oil and gas industry.
In the electric power industry, work is currently underway on a project to involve Power Machines in the modernization of the Maroyskaya hydroelectric power station and a thermal power plant in the city of Turkmenbashi.
In transport and logistics, priority is given to cooperation in the field of railway transport, first of all, the operation of the eastern route of the North-South international transport and transit corridor, as well as shipbuilding.
The possibility of developing commercial sea vessels at the Balkan shipbuilding and ship repair plant in the city of Turkmenbashi is being considered.
There are prospects for the participation of the Turkmen side in the shipbuilding activities of the Lotos SEZ in Astrakhan, and Turkmenistan is also ready to consider proposals for placing orders for the construction of sea vessels at Russian shipyards.
Cooperation in the fuel and energy complex at a working meeting was discussed in more detail by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation A. Novak and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh. Abdrakhmanov, who is in charge of the oil and gas department.
A. Novak and Sh. Abdrakhmanov discussed bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector, electric power industry, in the field of foreign energy sources (RES) and the world atom.
Based on the results of the meeting, the Russian Federation estimates that the Russian company provides services in the field of increasing the electric power system of Turkmenistan with the involvement of domestic contractors for the supply of equipment.
Oil companies are ready to participate in joint projects to create a birthplace in Turkmenistan.
Issues related to the assessment of reserves and gas, the consideration of gas statistics, and the preservation of environmental safety in the Caspian Sea were also discussed.
According to the conclusion, A. Novak said on the Russia-24 TV channel that Russia and Turkmenistan had agreed on cooperation in the energy sector.
In particular, the Russian company may take part in the construction of underground gas storage facilities (UGS facilities) in Turkmenistan.
