the town hall wants to set up an open-air nursery at Part-Dieu
The measure must be examined at the City Council of the city this Thursday. An interior building would be provided for winter canteen times.
Young children soon to be kept in the open air in Lyon? In any case, this is what the Lyon municipality wants, which plans to create an outdoor crèche at Part-Dieu.
The objective is to allow the youngest to spend more time outdoors, beneficial for their development and their health.
“The little ones, the more time they spend outside, the more they can explore, discover, let off steam. When their parents pick them up in the evening, they will have had a great day, and they will be able to sleep very peacefully at night” , explains the EELV mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, at the microphone of BFM Lyon.
“Sleep is better when the little extras spend time outdoors. Immune systems are stronger when the little extras spend time outdoors,” said the chosen one.
A cost of 500,000 euros
If during periods of strong sunshine, children can spend all their time outdoors, an indoor space will however be provided for the cooler winter season but also for mealtimes.
The project, carried by the environmentalist majority, must be examined at the Lyon City Council this Thursday. The total cost of this initiative amounts to 500,000 euros. Its opening is currently scheduled for 2025 on the Mandela esplanade at Part-Dieu, where expansion work is currently underway to design a new green space.
By 2024, the plaza must be enlarged and extended to the north over 1.7 hectares. This new development should allow the creation of a 4.4 hectare park in the heart of the district, in order to obtain “a” very wooded ” space, and an “island of freshness”.
