MOLDPRES News Agency – UNIDO will support the industrialization of the Republic of Moldova and increase the country’s industrial competitiveness
Chisinau, 18 Jan. /MOLDPRES/. The launch of a partnership between the Government and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with a view to rethinking the economic model and increasing the industrial competitiveness of the countries, was discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița with the representative of UNIDO, Dona Școla, of the report for MOLDPRES Directorate of communication and protocol of the Executive.
The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers emphasized that, in the context of the new economic realities, shaped by the war in Ukraine, the intensification of the collaboration between the Government and UNIDO is important between the creation of a modern economy and the necessary conditions for attracting investments.
“We count on UNIDO’s support in accessing new funds and exploiting new financing mechanisms, so that countries become more attractive to investors and attract as many investments as possible. Together, we will make a diagnosis of the industrial sector, to establish the basic priorities, and then capitalize on the local infrastructure and create an industrial development center in the regions”, said the prime minister.
For her part, Dona Școla mentioned that the partnership between the Government and UNIDO will be based on a framework of larger projects and a consistent industrial development strategy. In this collaboration, the Executive will have a strategic coordination role, and UNIDO will mobilize resources for more coherent assistance and technical cooperation projects.
The UNIDO Country Program for Moldova 2019-2023 ends this year, currently three projects are underway focused on promoting investments, productive employment for rural communities and entrepreneurship development, sustainable energy and environmental management.
