Brno: He was supposed to rob a well-known jewelry store, the Lithuanian is drinking soda
In April 2015, according to the indictment, Karolis N. was supposed to rob the store of the well-known Hanák jewelry store in Rašínova Street in the center of Brno. Together with three other Lithuanians, they were supposed to break into the jewelry store and, at gunpoint, forced all four salespeople to lie on their stomachs on the ground.
“They broke two glass display cases with an ax they brought and stole 34 Breitling and Omega watches from them, with a total value exceeding 4.3 million crowns,” the public prosecutor calculated in the indictment.
That didn’t happen
“I don’t feel guilty, the description of the robbery doesn’t fit,” declared through an interpreter Karolis N. “I don’t agree with the proposed punishment, I want to see the video of how it all happened,” he added. He announced to the court that he wanted to agree on guilt and punishment, but immediately retracted his statement.
At the same time, Judge Aleš Novotný offered him an exchange for agreeing to an agreement for a significantly smaller sentence than hers if he is found guilty. He faces up to 12 years.
However, the Lithuanian immediately shocked the court by announcing that he actually did not even know how old he was. During the recount, it claimed that sometime between the 26th and 29th. He is said to have attended ten classes of school and never worked anywhere. During his short life, however, he has already managed to stand before criminal tribunals in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Lithuania.
He confessed to the police
In the preliminary proceedings at the police, Karolis N. said that he simply wanted a rolex and breitling watch in Brno. “So I robbed the jewelry store,” he dictated to the policemen in the protocol. After the robbery, he allegedly got into the car and drove home to Lithuania.
In another interrogation a month later, he refused to testify. The companions of the not-so-bright Karolis N. in other courts across European countries agreed to a deal where, in exchange for lower sentences, they slapped the simpleton and practically showed him off.
In addition to him, two of his direct accomplices and roughly twenty other men who robbed mainly in their home country of Lithuania are being prosecuted separately.
“They ensured the sale of stolen goods. Together, they planned, tipped, distributed tasks, got weapons and tools to break shop windows and carry out robberies.” the prosecutor listed the defendant events. The court adjourned his detention and hearing until mid-February.
