Poll Alej roku known for this year’s winner. While the tree row from the Moravian-Silesian region took first place in the competition, the South Moravian representative from Brno won second place. Voters were charmed by the Maloměřická linden alley at the former cemetery.
The Alley of the Year competition has been held in the Czech Republic for the twelfth year. This time, people nominated ninety-three Czech and Moravian tree rows for the poll. Seventeen leafy candidates represented South Moravia in the race. Among the competitors, there were, for example, a row of sycamore trees in Vinohrady in Brno, a castle alley in Bučovice or a row of poplar trees along Svratka in Židlochovice.
However, the public’s heart was won by the linden alley on the northeastern outskirts of Brno. She finished in second place in the nationwide vote. “Lipová alej on Uhlířský vrch in Bruntál was overtaken by 606 votes, which became the most popular alley for the year 2022 for the entire Czech Republic. The title returns to the Moravian-Silesian region after 10 years,” reported on the results of the association competition Arnicawhich regularly organizes a poll about the most beautiful alley.
The alley in Brno’s Maloměřice, which people liked, consists of four dozen small-leaved linden trees. The row of trees is a remnant of the original Maloměřice cemetery, which was abolished sixty years ago. A cast iron cross from the second half of the 19th century completes the tall trees.
