The TOGETHER coalition comes up with the first proposal for the composition of the Prague City Council. After negotiations with the Pirate Party and the STAN movement, politicians say that the new composition of the council is based on the will of the voters. At the same time, it will be supported by 37 votes, which will enable stable governance. A new government could thus be formed within a month. “I firmly believe that we will manage to find an agreement and that we will finally give our city a new leadership that the people of Prague deserve,” Jiří Pospíšil, the chairman of Prague TOP 09, told eXtra.cz.
New coalition TOGETHER should apply the long-term demand of the Pirate Party, namely the distribution of the number of council members between the individual coalition partners, where TOGETHER will have minimal representation.
“In order for the government municipality to give up the formation of the coalition to us, we are mostly in the council, the position of investment deputy, and we offered our coalition partners tasks that we wanted to carry out ourselves. We want to go into leadership not because we strive for it, but because The city management finally began to function, and the council continued to rule without a mandate from the voters.” said the mayoral candidate Bohuslav Svoboda for eXtra.cz.
The TOGETHER coalition offers six seats in the council – four for the pirate party and two for the STAN movement. “The offer is extremely accommodating. We have clearly declared from the beginning that our goal is the creation of a coalition on the government’s plan. And this offer is proof of that. At the same time, it will enable the fulfillment of our program priorities, we were very interested in some events. As part of the efforts to create a coalition, however, we retreated. For these tasks, for example in transport, we expect that in the event that the coalition partners accept our offer, there will subsequently be a meeting of the program teams. They will have the task of finding a compromise in order to fulfill the programmatic priorities of the individual parties,” said the chairman of the TOGETHER representative club Zdeněk Zajíček.
“Different opinions are needed to choose that although we have programs, different goals, different goals, we were all elected by the people of Prague and we all have a responsibility to this city. We are convinced that if we want to take a step forward for Prague, we have to step back from some things. I firmly believe that we will manage to find an agreement and that we will finally give our city the new leadership that the people of Prague deserve,” added the chairman of Prague’s TOP 09 Jiří Pospíšil for eXtra.cz.
