People will be able to buy tickets on Prague buses directly in the car
Passengers on Prague public transport buses will now be able to buy tickets directly in the car. The transport company (DPP) had card payment terminals installed in them. The devices are located in all 1,200 cars and are gradually being put into operation.

The information was shared by the acting mayor’s deputy Adam Scheinherr (Praha Sobě) and the general director of DPP Petr Witowski. According to them, private bus operators will have terminals within a few months.
The terminals for DPP are operated by the company Bankovní informační technologie from the ČSOB group and Mikroelektronika. The service already works in trams, and the company has also introduced it in machines in the metro.
“It has happened to everyone that they look for a newsagent and find a ticket at the last minute. This will no longer be necessary. This way you always have the greatest possible comfort and the least stress when buying a ticket, it is no longer necessary to mark it,” said Scheinherr.

“They (terminals for card payments) will be launched gradually during today, we can guarantee 100% functionality from tomorrow morning departure. I firmly believe that they will contribute to further reducing the number of so-called black passenger traffic, and that they will remain at least as popular and used as in trams,” added Witowski.
The device works in such a way that the passenger selects a ticket on it after boarding the car and attaches the card to the device. A ticket with validity data is printed from it, which is not marked further. The devices work in Czech, English and German. Passengers can buy tickets for a single trip or short-term tickets for the territory of Prague, both 30-minute and 90-minute, as well as 24-hour tickets, including discounted fare options.

The selected companies will take care of the terminals for six years, and the operation of the entire system will cost DPP 100,000 crowns per month plus five percent of the total revenue from the terminals. After the end of the contract, the company has the option to buy back the terminals into its ownership for one crown per piece.
Since the end of April 2019, terminals in trams have been operating. The machines are in the middle carriages of the cars, 14T trams run. Also in this case, the DPP signed a contract with the Banking Information Technology companies, which installed the devices in the trams. The company belonging to ČSOB is subject to the provision of 1.99 percent of the ticket price. In trams last year, DPP sold over 3.68 million tickets for around 136.5 million crowns.
Passengers in Ostrava, for example, can use the card to pay in public transport, as well as people in Karlovy Vary, Liberec and other cities.
