Fumbling again (not only) in defense. The comet in front of Jalonen’s eyes was not enough for the favorite
The rare visit of the Comets hockey players did not bring happiness. In front of national team coach Kari Jalonen, Brno lost 2:5 in the home game against favored Vítkovice without Peter Mueller, and in the new calendar year they lost the fourth of six duels. In the standings, Kometa remained ninth, but on the penultimate thirteenth Karlovy Vary, it already has a tip of only three points.

Everything important happened already in the first part. Komet goalkeeper Dominik Furch chose the unlucky third. He not only conceded four goals in succession, but due to problems with his equipment in the third minute, he temporarily gave up his place to substitute goalkeeper Marko Čiliak, who had been battling an illness for the last few days.
In the wild first part, the fans in the sparse stands saw six goals from the winning group of the Arena. In the second minute, visiting Rostislav Dej opened the scoring. Less than a minute later, Petr Holík equalized, but Vítkovice regained the lead in the sixth minute with a precise shot from Roberts Bukarts.

Kometa equalized again a minute later, when Brno’s top scorer Luboš Horký made his mark, but Vítkovice then used two powerplays and, after Marko Kalus and Peter Krieger’s goals, already made it 4:2.
The guests, with a two-goal lead, were in control. Brno locked them in their defensive zone at times, but they struggled in the end zone.
The guests still secured their win. In the 47th minute, Jakub Kotala increased the already three-goal difference in favor of Vítkovice with a shot after the stop. The Ostravas then controlled the lead without much difficulty and went on to win.
