NBL leader Brno lost to Opava at home, Nymburk outclassed last Hradec
The runner-up Opava was led by Jakub Mokráň, the author of 24 points and 10 rebounds, to win over the leader. Four more of his seniors scored in double figures, captain Jakub Šiřina recorded 11 assists. Slezán lost an eleven-point difference in the first half, but they allowed the opponents to equalize as much as possible and dominated after the change of sides, also scoring 14 three-pointers against the home team’s six.
Brno lost in the league for the first time since the end of November, when they were not enough against Nymburk, but against Opava for the second time in each. Kameron Chatman led them in scoring with 20 points.
The defending champions from Nymburk entered the match aggressively and scored the first nine points. But they soon lost a double-digit lead and let the opponent take a 28:27 lead in the 13th minute. Since then, however, only one team has been on the field. By the end of the third ten-minute period, the home team dominated the game with a ratio of 54:11 and led by 44 points.
In the Nymburk team, each of the eleven players played more than 11 minutes and all of them were among the scorers. The leader was Junathaen Watson with 18 bodies, the newcomer to the team De’Riante Jenkins entered with nine bodies.
“After a good start, ours went down, the players came from the bench and they didn’t maintain an active pace and the opponent started to breathe. But when we took control in defense and put pressure on Autrey and Šturanović, it looked very good. Our attack comes from the defense a lot. if we defend, then we will improve better from the counterattack,” stated Nymburk coach Ladislav Sokolovský. He won this game by a higher margin only in October against Hradec Králové (99:52).
Sukhmail Mathon (23 points and 14 rebounds) and Alexandar Radukič (22 and 12) scored a double double against Děčín. It did not help the North Bohemians in Ostrava that the best scorer of the match was their quarterback Ty Nichols with 29 points. Among other things, they missed seven unconverted free throws, while the home team was 100 percent from the free throw line with a 17-17 record.
The fourth team Kolín did not succeed either, losing to newcomer Slavia in Prague 88:90 after extra time.
