“Again Russia does what it wants!” – a world of indignation at Valieva’s excuse
We remind you that the day before it became known that RUSADA entered the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in the case of its disciplinary anti-doping committee. In this struggle, it is argued that the guilt is personally Kamyla Valieva that traces of prohibited substances were found in her doping test, no. But since such traces are still found, the results of Camila at the Russian Championship (where the ill-fated sample was taken) are canceled, and automatically becomes the champion of the country Alexandra Trusova.
In Russia, this news was greeted with approval. famous coach Tatyana Tarasova announced that she never doubted the honesty of Kamila Valieva and expected just such a decision from RUSADA:
“RUSADA’s conclusions do not surprise me, because they are honest. Kamila does not mean anything, but, she is innocent. Will it be possible to defend such a point of view in CAS? Personally, I am optimistic, because it is honest.
Renat LaishevThe head of the sports and education center “Sambo-70”, which includes the group of Eteri Tutberidze, where Kamila Valieva trains, also constantly supported the acquittal of DAK RUSADA:
“I said from the very beginning that the solution would be to use Camila. This is a pupil of the Sambo-70 school, a 16-year-old girl, she remembered the European Championship, where there were also checks. Therefore, the team of Eteri Tutberidze would never have allowed such stupidity that she would go to the Olympics and take something before that. She was pure from the start! ”, – it said to the RIA Novosti agency. A little later, to another correspondent who got through, Laishev issued an even more radical wording – in his opinion, even an acquittal from DAK RUSADA is not enough:
“This is RUSADA’s cheap flirting with WADA and CAS. They feed the beast quite a bit. It was necessary to fight for Camila to the end. She is a pure, honest person. I initially said that the 15-year-old girl was not to blame for anything. Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze and her team would not allow such things. Moreover, they have passed the European Championship, the World Championship at the highest level. Why would they risk it? This is an invention of the IOC and Bach, who started to shoot down our 15-year-old girl … Valieva is an example for the youth. The same heroine as the guys on the front line. At the age of 15, she set an example that she is a real Russian athlete and a fighter for her country.“.
But outside of Russia, far from everyone agreed with this position (or, to be more precise, no one accepted it at all).
Director General of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Travis Tygart it is stated that the case of Valieva should be detained outside of Russia – only then can an objective result be obtained:
“WADA and the International Skating Union must make public this trust in the anti-doping system and for the right of all athletes. The world cannot accept this selfish decision of RUSADA in any way. Justice requires a full, fair, public hearing outside of Russia.” Tygart is quoted by CNN.
The U.S. Olympic Committee is gathering WADA to hold hearings on Valieva’s case as soon as possible and make a decision after the fate of the medals of the figure skating team tournament at the Beijing Olympics is finally determined, where the Russian team with Valieva took first place, and second – second.
famous german journalist Hayo Seppeltfamous for his investigations into doping in Russian sports, he also answered quite harshly:
“It’s absurd – this happens only in non-democratic structures of structures deprived of freedom: Valiev’s cleansing of RUSADA’s doping history, whose verdict is “not guilty.” Russian sport is probably unable to create a protective independent structure. But the IOC wants Russian athletes to be in Paris.”Seppelt wrote on social media.
Canadian Olympic champion in figure skating became even tougher Megan Duhamel:
“And who will believe it? Give away professional Olympic medals! Every doping case needs to be applied universally. Support clean athletes and clean teams, that’s what they deserve.” Duhamel wrote on her Twitter account.
Her presence was supported by an American Jessica Kalalangthree times medal winner in pair skating at discovery level:
“Doping is doping, it should automatically equate to punishment. WADA must apply”she wrote.
True, Kalalang repeatedly mentioned that an infected substance, the 4-SRA stimulant, was also found in her doping test in 2021, and she ruled out the possibility of disqualification, convincingly in arbitration that the prohibited stimulant entered her body through cosmetics.
But against the general informational background, the embarrassment of Kalalang can no longer be useful. In social networks, figure skating fans around the world are vigorously discussing the rationale for Kamila Valieva, and are almost unanimously outraged by this reason:
“Quite complete, I’m not even surprised. However, I was even surprised that they “punished” her at all by depriving her of the national congress. Congratulations, Sasha (Trusova)!”.
“Seriously? Justified? If they want to declare her innocent, then they must decide who is guilty then. Whether it’s Eteri, the doctors, or her parents, who, in case other athletes awaiting medals are excluded from the equation, the minor was found to have substances in her focus with crap revealing how they got to the infection… This needs to be investigated!”
“Caroline (Costner) was disqualified only because her boyfriend was doping, and Valieva was acquitted? …. This is absurd…. Again, what Russia wants!”
“Wait… so they are disqualifying the results of her 2022 championship capture, which was Olympic qualifiers? How can you cancel the results of the selection and not touch the results at the Olympics?
“Honestly, despite all this clowning, if WADA, CAS and the IOC want to be taken seriously in the future, they need to make sure that Valieva is exemplary, for example. She should definitely be doping and no matter how talented she is, she should be held accountable and ideally her team should be banned indefinitely.”
However, the careers of Kamila Valieva and the medals of the team tournament of the Beijing Olympics will not be chosen by fans on social networks, but by the arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), if the World Anti-Doping Agency decides to challenge the DAK RUSADA verdict in it. This could happen in the coming weeks.
