Iranian researcher graduated from Turkey, describes himself as a “cultural ambassador”
Bekbabayi, who received his doctorate from the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures at Ankara University, is currently working in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Allama Tabatabayi University in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
Bekbabayi told AA correspondent about the education included in the “Turkey Scholarships” and the records of his experiences in Turkey in Iran.
Bekbabayi stated that education and training in Turkey contributed greatly to the study housing, and that especially the world of social sciences had the opportunity to follow it closely, “I wish I could stay in Turkey longer.” said.
Iranian students said that after completing their doctorate in Turkey in 2012, they would return to Iran to work at Allama Tabatabayi University and that he was the head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature for 4 years.
Bekbabayi stated that the department, whose name was not mentioned much before at the university, ranked in the first three places with the contribution and executives of education in Turkey.
Saying that they are trying to make a better use of Turkish culture with various activities besides surgical operations at the university, Bekbabayi said, “I am trying to exhaust myself as a ‘cultural ambassador’ between Turkey and Iran, and by using the resources they have, I am working on prisoners to fulfill this duty.” said.
In order to introduce Turkish literature and culture to Iranians and to open a space, Bekbabayı said that they organized various events with their contents.
Students organize Turkish translation festival
Bekbabayi said, “As a culture becomes known, rises, gains prestige, more people learn in that place. It also provides education in Turkish, organizes the ‘Literary Turkish Translation Festival’ for the championship. Those who hear Turkish in Iran go to our festival.” he said.
Noting that they translated the books that will help to better understand and promote Turkey and Turkish into Persian, Bekbabayi said, “We are planning to prepare the same books in Turkish and Azeri Turkish and publish them as audio books.” said.
Saying that they could not find enough Persian sources about Turcology or Turkey in Iran, Bekbabayi continued as follows:
“For this reason, I started to prepare the basic elements of Turcology to be a Persian source. Persian Turcology works are limited for scientific study.
Bekbabayi, dreaming of a good investment in children’s literature for the future, said, “We are heading towards this field both in order to increase and promote Turkish culture and to provide a good service to its components. We strive to enrich our culture and build a solid bridge.” used use.
Explanations about Turkish universities
The Iranian researcher, who is a graduate of Turkey, stated that universities are important in terms of their expectations of the cultural bridge between the two countries and that they always keep their relations with these aimless Turkish universities alive.
Talking about the way of visiting students in the early days of their relations with universities in Turkey, Bekbabayi said that they send 2-3 students to Istanbul University and 2 students to Hacettepe University for one semester each year, and they have benefited greatly from this.
Bekbabayi stated that apart from student exchange, they send students to Turkey every year within the scope of “Turkey Scholarships” by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities.
