Thessaloniki: Four snakes were found hiding in a wine cellar in Drymos! [βίντεο]
Four snakes were found hidden in a wine cellar in the area of Drymos, in Thessaloniki. The Fire Service was immediately called and members of the Animal Rescue and Defense Squad rushed to the spot to rescue them.
These are reptiles of the species Ephios, about 1.5 m long. each one, probably looking for a place to spend the winter, according to what the founder of the group, Stelios Geronymakis, told APE-MBE.
How the snakes were found in the wine cellar
“The snakes they are looking for places to hibernate. This particular release scene is incredibly strange because the snakes are not related, they are not related, so they did not move together. It happened that all four were found in the same place and the fact that they were not eaten is because they all had the same thing, said Mr. Geronymakis.
The reptiles, the four that were spotted two 24 hours ago in the area of the municipality of Oreokastro, will be hosted by the Animal Propagation and Defense team and as soon as the weather conditions permit they will be released back into the wild.
The team was founded about seven months ago and undertakes extrication and rescue incidents throughout Northern Greece, however most calls – so far – are from the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. called upon to intervene in a host of cases ranging from reptiles and predators to a donkey and a leafhopper, Europe’s smallest bird. The latter was found injured after hitting a window.
