Metro Turkey has announced the Deposit Collection Project in its Kozyatağı Store before the “National Deposit Management System”, which will be enforced in 2024 by the Environment Agency affiliated to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
Announcing a 2 lira coupon for every 10 bottles delivered to the Metro Turkey Kozyatağı Store for recyclable glass, plastic and aluminum beverage packaging bottles, Metro Turkey aims to encourage both professional businesses and end consumers to recycle with this project.
In addition, the company prints the consumption expenditures that make a difference by collecting deposits by machine and manually. In the first phase of the project, it is aimed to recycle nearly 3.5 million bottles within a year.
Speaking about the project and giving advice on not maintaining social awareness for a sustainable future, Metro Turkey CFO Aslı Aracioglu stated that they limited their sustainability work to their own operations and drew the north of a strategy that included its scope and suppliers.

Metro Turkey has been working since 2019 to reduce the weight of plastic packaging, which has a high growth effect. Metro Turkey, which reduces these expenses by approximately 52 tons of plastic from its Metro branded consumption packaging, aims to increase the growth of more environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic when it consumes its own brand.
In addition, Metro Turkey, which consumes PVC/PVDC materials that are harmful to nature and human health in 84 percent of Metro branded product packaging in 2021, with more environmentally friendly packaging materials, aims to make the said change in its entire automatic brand in 2023.
