For the preservation of water resources and aquatic environments, Dijon metropolis (Côte-d’Or) maintains a partnership with the Rhône-Mediterranean-Corsica Water Agency since 2017, thanks to the formalization of two works contracts (2017-2018 and 2019-2021).
The partnership was reaffirmed during the metropolitan council of September 29, 2022 by a new contract for the period 2022-2024 which will revolve around the adaptation of the territory to climate change and the intervention program of the Water Agency ” save the water “.
Many goals
Among the objectives pursuedare in particular provided for:
- the limitation of leaks in drinking water networks by the renewal of supply and distribution pipelines,
- the restoration of raw water quality the Couternon catchment,
- the continuation of the Protect’eau operation in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Burgundy metropolis to help businesses and communities reduce pollution from toxic discharges,
- the stormwater management.
As part of the contract, Dijon metropolis plan to invest €28.4 million over the period 2022-2024 with a commitment from the Rhône-Mediterranean-Corsica Water Agency to participate in the financing of actions to the tune of 7.4 million euros.
Dijon Métropole here reaffirms a global policy and structuring investments in water managementwith a view to optimizing it, while being attentive to the preservation of this essential resource.
More inhabitants therefore more water production?
Gaining inhabitants does not mean needing to increase water production (ie the total volume withdrawn from the natural environment (groundwater, springs) for drinking water supply).
Indeed, in 2005the Dijon metropolitan area produced 25 million m³ of water to supply 275,000 inhabitants, and 2021she is a product 19.8 million m³ water for 300,000 inhabitants.
That is 5.2 million m³ saved in more than 15 years.
