A man was hit by a tram in Prague. Paramedics took him and his wife to the hospital
A roughly 50-year-old pedestrian was hit by a tram on Plzeňská Street in Prague on Wednesday evening. Firefighters freed the man and handed him over to paramedics, who had to put him to artificial sleep. A stressed-out woman was also taken away from the scene of the accident.
Due to a traffic accident, tram service had to be suspended in the section Vozovna Motol – Sídliště Řepy on Wednesday evening.
“In Plzeňská Street, we intervene when a tram collides with a pedestrian. We rescue a person from under the tram,” they stated firefighters before eight o’clock in the evening.
We get the wedged pedestrian out using pneumatic bags that can lift the tram. About a quarter out of nine reported success. “The person was freed and handed over to the rescuers. The fire department took over the case,” added the Prague fire department.
“A man aged around 50 had to be induced into artificial sleep, secure the airway, connect to a monitor, treat, immobilize. He suffered multiple injuries (head, legs, chest), he is being taken to the Motol University Hospital at the ARO. We took another A 50-year-old woman with an acute stress reaction,” she specified the consequences of the accident, spokeswoman for the Prague rescuers, Jana Poštová.
“We will investigate the circumstances under which the man got under the wheels of the tram,” said police spokesman Jan Daněk. “He submitted to a breathalyzer test on the spot, which was positive. He breathed more than just one per million of alcohol,” he added later.
In Hotel Golf – Sídliště Řepy, trams have been replaced by bus line X9. “Tram lines are terminated at Vozovná Motol,” they pointed out twitter representatives of Prague Integrated Transport (PID).
