ALL ANTWERP: “I can very well do nothing” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer choose a casual passerby from the street for a nice conversation. Because everyone has a story. Especially in Antwerp. Today: Margot Fingerhoedt (38) and Vesper (2)
Rebecca Van Remoortere
“Vesper still has to turn three, but talk to everyone under the table. I really enjoy myself with her, we often go out together. This Christmas holiday was the first holiday period for me with her at home. You should really enjoy it there, right? Even if you don’t get anything done at home.
Due to the Christmas holidays, I was even two weeks away from my job. I work as a communications manager at Ecopower, which is a citizens’ cooperative for green energy. Everyone who works there stands behind the company. You don’t make anyone rich, but you all go for the same goal. That is worth working hard.”
“We are now getting a lot of questions, of course. In the new year we don’t even want to make any external changes, because everyone thinks it’s difficult enough already. We’ve had digital meters, the capacity tariff and the price crisis. Too much is already happening outside. We are the only customer service that is simply not available. There is no waiting tape from the computer. With us, someone just says ‘Good afternoon, how can I help you today’.”
“I work very hard, but I never work on Fridays, weekends and evenings. Otherwise that would be the beginning of the end. As a young mother, I was committed not to choose a day off on Wednesday, because that is not a day for yourself. I can’t really relax on Friday. There is actually a lot that needs to be done, but I can also very well do nothing. That’s a quality, a blessing. I’ve seen too many people crash. If you’re not done, it’s not done and you just put on dirty underpants. It’s that simple sometimes. I am a happy lady.”
