Mudrování (not only) above the theater (No. 791) – Divadelní noviny
It’s been longer than yesterday since I watched the elegant organist Celestén from the perch of the Mahen Theater. Just be Oldrich Novy discovered, the audience applauded wildly.
The legendary film actor also worked on the stages of the Brno stage. I was lucky to meet him. He told me at the Royal Polish Department of Plastic Surgery: You are such a Krajíček from Brno, a comedian with dry humor, stick to it. Keep that splint on your nose, it suits you…
When I entered the hall Redoubtsthe muse sang in my ear: Today alone is worth living for…
Director Natalia Deáková she had a film studio set up on stage with rails for the moving camera as the script dictated Petr Stančíkand plays an unfunny, long-winded act.
Nový plays the role of a gangster who, with a pistol in his hand, attacks the police commissioner. Director Mac Frič is not satisfied. On Jaroslav Marvan’s sarcastic advice, he sets out to study the harsh environment in Prague’s famous Jedová chýše. It’s a would-be operetta joke hill that no one laughs at.
Fortunately, the actor in the role of Oldřich is not copying or parodying the New Master, he is “his own”, so I just stare in surprise. The costumes seem old, the plot flimsy. Adina Mandlová should be charming and Lída Baarová should be full of beauty. In greenish stockings, he charms – where he was married, he was married – the limping Josef Goebbels.
The muse whispers: It will probably be such a daring theater holiday.
The actors overcome each other, looking for grains of humor in the sandy desert. They dance great, they sing great. They play until the body is torn apart.
Goebbels clings to Baarova, bribes filmmakers, plans a coup d’état. Roman Blumaier caricatures him excellently. On the bent left leg, he correctly demonstrates the right movement orgies that are to be and will be danced. The choreography and its performance are among the best that can be seen on stage.
Muse says: He’ll probably be a crazy vaudeville. An operetta must have a happy ending, and this does not look like a happy ending.
The muse is not wrong. Although Oldřich Nový manages to play the evil gangster to Frič’s satisfaction, Goebbels manages to bribe the crew and the artists, so that the final song is sung by the choir in German. To everyone’s dismay, Oldřich Nový also sings it from paper…
My jaw drops.
Muse says: I didn’t know this, maybe the screenwriter dug it up somewhere?
I leave Reduta in a bad way. In my mind I forgive Pavlo Ceňko Vaculíkthat the character of good old Oldřich played without any form with Master New.
The muse has question marks over her head: Why play it is beyond me.
Creators maybe, so you why they certainly know, and now it’s up to us, the muse, the viewers, to understand and compare in our heads.
God, but what?
Let’s hope we go at it one more time.
Muse, you mean…?
