Motorists will have to get used to these new regulations. during 2023, all the streets of Calais Nord will pass in a zone limited to 30km / h. Some of the residents are delighted, the other is not convinced. Make the point.
A decision that makes people talk
The subject of the speed of car traffic in the streets of Calais was addressed during public meetings. Neighbors want to have a safer and more serene traffic in their neighborhood.
Currently, some streets are limited to 30km/h, such as rue Royale. The municipality aims to calm traffic more extensively and almost all of Calais Nord is expected to move to zone 30 during the year.
On December 7, a public meeting took place in Calais Nord. The inhabitants approved the passage in zone 30 of their district. A divisive decision. “This is good news for pedestrians and cyclists”, “the planet thanks you, but pedestrian zones would also be welcome”, underline these Internet users.
Some Calaisians are however very critical. For many, this passage in zone 30 will not change anything : “I regularly pass through Calais Nord before going to work and many motorists do not respect the limit little or not at all, even on the main axes”, testifies a local resident.
