So far, more than two hundred people from Debrecen have registered their electric car so that they can park for free – with video
From the first of January, only those residents of Debrecen who register their electric car in the DV Parking system can park for free in the city. Starting from this year, the prices of traditional bus stops also increased.
For almost six years, cars with green license plates could park for free in Debrecen.
From January, however, the number plate alone is not enough. Only those who have a permanent address in Debrecen and drive a purely electric vehicle do not have to pay – this was decided by the city assembly in December.
Residents of Debrecen who drive an electric car must fill out a registration form on the DV Parking website to be able to park free of charge.
– We have the possibility to register as of December 12, 2022, despite the fact that the law is only valid from January 1. To date, 213 people have completed this registration, who really meet all the conditions – emphasized István Nyikos, managing director of DV Parking Kft.
The municipality transferred the operation of nine electric parking spaces to DV Parking. The payment system is being developed at these points.
From this year, surface and underground parking became more expensive. The number of parking spaces is increasing in Debrecen, but according to the manager of DV Parking, it is difficult to keep up with vehicle traffic in the city and the agglomeration. He added that one-fifth of the traffic is made up of cars looking for a parking space.
István Nyikos said: the economic indicators of DV Parking in 2022 approached the last year before the coronavirus. The company is confident that it will be able to maintain this level in the new year.
