“I thought I was safe”. Zurich police officer sexually harassed young tourist.
A 19-year-old tourist requests help from the Zurich city police and is sexually harassed by an officer. Then she goes public with a video.
19-year-old Sarah Djuric from Austria has published a Tiktok video showing an officer from the Zurich City Police from behind. The young woman writes: “I thought the policeman would help me.”
It also shows excerpts from the official’s e-mails after the deployment. In this the woman is instructed apparently in a friendly manner. Among other things, the policeman also writes: «Do you know what young men see when they look at you? A bombshell! The man’s dream!» And further: “Yes, you want that too”.
Djuric had the police according to “20 minutes” called after an incident she declined to comment on Tuesday morning at a hotel in Zurich. She told the news portal: «I thought I was safe when the police arrived, but I said I was wrong. I was sexually harassed by a police officer.”
Already in conversation with the policeman in the hotel, she had a strange feeling, but thought that she was only imagining it. After the man’s emails, she now knows that he “sexualized her from the start”.
Because she felt “dirty and lost” after the police officer’s messages, she went public with the video. “I could hardly believe that something like this was happening to me and I knew that without evidence, I would not be believed,” she said of “20 minutes”.
According to the report, the city police contacted the young woman on their own initiative and recommended that they file a complaint.
The media chief of the Zurich city police, Judith Hödl, “20 minutes” said: “We distance ourselves in all forms from this behavior, which in no way corresponds to the standard that we expect from ours.” The process has already been clarified internally, and measures relating to personnel law relating to the employee are being examined.
