According to a press release issued by the Government of Romania, the memorandum proposes the institutional composition of Romania within the Monitoring Committee related to the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program. The committee will be responsible for the efficiency and implementation of this program, to which Romania participates as a partner in the cross-border cooperation component at the external borders of the European Union as a Management Authority.
The eligible area of the program also includes four counties in Romania (Iasi, Vaslui, Botoșani and Galați), as well as the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova. The two countries will benefit in the period 2021-2027 from non-refundable community financial assistance for the development of European territorial cooperation programs and projects (cross-border, transnational and interregional). The purpose of cooperation refers to the balanced development of the entire community territory, by encouraging cooperation and the exchange of good practices in all EU regions.
After the European Commission approved at the end of last year the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program and taking into account the very tight implementation calendar, the approval of the institutional composition of the Monitoring Committee is important for this committee to start its activity and can approve the documents necessary to launch calls for project proposals.
