The new Israeli Foreign Minister and the Russian Foreign Minister spoke by phone
New Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offered phone services.
“The conversation has now ended with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who bothered me to congratulate me on taking office.
As informed The Russian Foreign Ministry and the ministers discussed the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation taking place in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the Palestinian-Israeli settlement. Lavrov also briefed Cohen on Russia’s ongoing operations in Ukraine.
Officially, Cohen was elected to the post of Israeli Foreign Minister on January 2. He replaced Yair Lapid. In his speech at the Ministerial Change Ceremony, Cohen, commentator on the protocol meeting regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict notedthat there will now be less public talk about the war, but humanitarian aid to Kyiv is expected to continue.
Kyiv constantly stops the government for refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine. Israel, in turn, claims that the requested weapons are intended for the domestic market.
Israeli media also report that the authorities fear that any situation with the coronavirus is expressed in relations with Russia and restrictive freedom of action for Palestinian attacks on Iranian positions in Israel.
