The head of counterintelligence of Germany announced an increase in the activity of Russian special services in the country
The interest of the Russian special services in Germany is growing as the war in Russia with Ukraine continues. About this agency dpa said the head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany, Thomas Haldenwang.
Haldenwang commented on a recent report on the responsibility of the German Federal Intelligence and Counterintelligence Service on suspicion of espionage using Russia. The detainee is suspected of transferring part of the Russian secret information. According to the head of the department, this case may indicate how real the danger of Moscow is.
Haldenwang premisethat Russia is also trying to compensate for the expulsion of 40 employees of Russian diplomatic missions because of the situation with Ukraine. The official admits that Moscow is piling up to make up for the loss.
“We offer large workloads to prevent the arrival in Germany of new people who may be involved in public service,” Haldenwang said, adding that Germany has tightened the issuance of visas to Russians.
The head of the German department noted that numerous Russian cyber attacks and high disinformation are expected in Berlin, but the German foreign intelligence service is well prepared to solve current problems.
Haldenwang also classifies China and Iran as a state, and intelligence agencies are investigating in Germany.
