Putin allowed to cancel Council of Europe treaties with respect to Russia
The government asked President Vladimir Putin to approve the State Duma’s proposal to extend the Council of Europe’s international treaties with respect to Russia. Russia was waiting in the Council of Europe in 1996. On February 25, 2022, the organization suspended Russia’s membership due to the start of the “special operation”* operation in Ukraine. On March 16, Russia ceased to be a member of the Council of Europe. In July, Mishustin signed a resolution that was the exclusive participation of Russia in partial and extended partial meetings of the Council of Europe.
