He spends his days off at Gevir’s Romjulstournament, on a team with six family members from the well-known Berg family.
– It is very nice to see what he has done in Denmark. I’ve known him since he was 8-9 years old, and I’ve always known that there is something very special about him and his talent, says Glimt player Patrick Berg about Schjelderup.
– Dedicated
Schjelderup was brought from Bodø/Glimt to the Danish club as a 16-year-old, and has a contract with Nordsjælland until the summer of 2024.
Bodøværingen can take much of the credit for the club leading the Superliga, three and five points ahead of Viborg and FC Copenhagen.
– He has worked dedicatedly and seriously over time, which has produced good results. It seems that he still has the spark and desire to develop further, and it is nice that someone from Bodø has succeeded so well, says Berg.
Schjelderup has two games for the U21 national team. In 2022, however, he has only played for the G18 and G19 national team.
The 18-year-old never broke through in the first team for Glimt, and spent several seasons playing his way into the first team for Nordsjælland.
– I think he made a good choice to go to Denmark, because he has played a lot at a high level and developed very well, says Berg.
May be on the way out
When Schjelderup chose the Danish club, he had visited giants such as Ajax, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Well, the 18-year-old links to Benfica, who lead the Portuguese league.

– It’s incredibly fun to see how things are going with him. “So far so good”, but now the important thing is that he concentrates on the tasks here in the Rumjul Cup, then we can take the rest afterwards, says a chuckling Ørjan Berg.
