New entry on the track: night train between Brussels, Am…
A new night train will run between Brussels, Amsterdam and Berlin from May last year. The first trip of the European Sleeper night train is scheduled for Thursday 25 May and will depart from Berlin via Amsterdam to Brussels. Ticket sales will start in February.
The intention is that this night train with ten carriages will run three times a week, with intermediate stops in Hanover, Amersfoort, The Hague, Rotterdam and Antwerp, among others. From 2024, daily trips would be carried out if possible. From the beginning of that year, it is also the intention that the train service will be expanded to Dresden and Prague.
Important step
European Sleeper says the first connection is an important step towards a more extensive network of night trains from the Netherlands and Belgium. According to the company, there is broad support for the night train as a comfortable, sustainable and efficient alternative to the plane.
European Sleeper does state that the availability of sleeping cars is a challenge. Sleeping carriages are currently still hired, but European Sleeper wants to invest in its own carriages in the short term.
