liberal doctors called to strike on Monday
Lyon liberal doctors are called to strike from this Monday until January 2.
They are demanding an increase in the consultation fee and a marked improvement in their working conditions. This call is supported by the Young Doctors unions, the French Union for Free Medicine (UFML) or the Federation of Doctors of France (FMF).
But this divides since other unions like Avenir Spé or the Confederation of French Medical Unions (CSMF) do not want to close the cabinets. According to them, the ongoing negotiations with Health Insurance are on the right track.
Medical deserts, more and more present, are of great concern to doctors. They are also opposed to what competent nurses are allowed to prescribe. For these reasons, the Doctors for Tomorrow collective is asking for the consultation fee to be doubled, from 25 to 50 euros, to compensate for the lack of staff.
A first demonstration had already taken place in early December in Lyon and practices had been closed. This winter, France is facing a triple epidemic of Covid, flu and bronchiolitis and many hospitals are already overloaded.
