Russia lured a strong biathlete, but did not miss: why Roman Eremin moved from Kazakhstan to the Russian team
Russia for the first time poached a strong biathlete, but did not miss it. Exceptional story!
Roman Eremin almost captures the territory in Kazakhstan, and now he finishes first with the national flag in his hands.
A big mass start at the initiative of the Commonwealth Cup in Ryazan with the flag of Russia in memorized hands 25-year-old Roman Eremin, who already several years ago found the Kazakhstan team at the World Cup.
In the previous case, it took place at the Russian Cup and took only 17th place in the overall standings. Since this year, the athlete has been working in the group of Yuri Kaminsky and is already beating the strongest Russian biathletes.
“Does not imply availability”
Biathletes from Russia quite often change sports citizenship and move to other countries. Even now there are about ten former Russian athletes at the World Cup. And in the case of Roman Eremin, the opposite is true – the winner of the International Universiade and the Junior World Championship as part of the Kazakhstan team since 2021 has been communicating at the Russian Cup. the high level of competition in Russia, because of which many Russians leave for other teams, Eremin’s transition can be called exceptional.
“Finishing with a flag is fun.” Roman Eremin ran for Kazakhstan, and now he wins for Russia
In August 2020, Eremin was suspended from work in the Kazakhstan national team for a year due to a violation of the sports regime. After Roman arrived, he moved to Russia. The biathlete himself says that two years ago, after the incident, he could go beyond the sports scene.
“I didn’t even imagine that I was in Russia as an ordinary person. But then I thought that I did not have time to realize myself in my favorite sport. A random series of meetings and conversations led to the fact that I returned to biathlon again. Since then, I have advanced very seriously in shooting, it can be argued that now I have the best shooting in my career. ”
“Prospects are good”
Before the 2022/2023 season, Roman got into centralized training in the group of Yuri Kaminsky. Training in this group and work on security under the staff of Maxim Maximov came to his use. In the mass start in Ryazan, for the first time in his career, he passed four firing lines without a miss.
“Roma really ended biathlon two years ago, there was a muddy history in Kazakhstan, it is still not clear who is to blame. I became interested in him myself, or rather, my coach friends from Kazakhstan recommended him to me. They advised me to pay attention to it. He has very good prospects. Biathlon is a sport where you can safely run up to 35. In terms of dynamics, it has time and potential for growth,” coach Yuri Kaminsky told RIA Novosti after Eremin’s victory.
“First Senior Win”
In the mass start, Eremin demonstrated excellent shooting. Only he, Vasily Tomshin and Dmitry Ivanov managed to close all 20 targets. At the distance, the winner of the race showed fourth speed, losing 13.5 seconds to the fastest participant in the mass start, Roman Yeletnov.
“I am especially pleased that we closed all the targets at four lines – this is the first time for me. I didn’t shoot cleanly even at juniors, I always had one or two misses. This is my first career victory at the adult level,” said Eremin.
Belarusian biathletes eclipsed Russians at the Commonwealth Cup. Ours barely caught the medal
After the second firing line, Eremin lost 18 seconds to the leader, but by the first stage of protection from the guard post to nine seconds. After several explosions, he became active, thanks to good work on the final shooting range, consolidated his result and finished with a sharp turn and a 12.4 second lead from Vasily Tomshin.
It is worth noting that before winning the mass start in Ryazan, Eremin already got on the podium in this case. At the Russian Cup competition in Tyumen, he won silver in the sprint, losing seven seconds to the leader of the race, Eduard Latypov. At the summer Commonwealth Cup event in Raubichi, he finished number one in the mass start.
Has Russia really not lost a talented biathlete, but found it?
