Today, homeless people in Prague and other cities received a Christmas treat. Those in need were hosted by the Archdiocesan Charity, the Salvation Army or the Prague 1 district. Potato salad with carp or schnitzel and fish soup were served. In many places throughout the Czech Republic, the tradition of Christmas Eve meal for the needy has returned after a two-year coronavirus break.
Today, for example, clients of the Salvation Army received Christmas lunch at the low-threshold day center of Bohuslav Bureš Social Services in Prague 7.
In the Karlín Asylum House of St. Terezia is preparing a Christmas Eve dinner for people without shelter, Archdiocesan charity Prague. According to the media representative of the charity, Jarmila Lomozová, they expect to entertain 200 people. The Municipal District of Prague 1, together with the Association of Citizens and Friends of Malá Strana and Hradčany and the Association of the New Town of Prague, organized a Christmas soup-pouring in Kampá. The Prague 1 Social Services Center organized a Christmas lunch for seniors in Malostranská beseda. Invited seniors from Prague 1, who would otherwise spend the holidays alone, can celebrate Christmas here.
About 120 invited guests who would otherwise spend Christmas alone will gather at the Christmas Eve dinner in the Westfield Chodov shopping center. These are homeless people, people with disabilities, seniors from retirement homes, children from children’s homes or single mothers.
