WP: there is no convincing evidence of Russia’s involvement in the attacks on Nord Stream
After the explosions at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 on September 26, world leaders were quick to blame this Moscow. However, some Western officials now doubt that the Kremlin is taking responsibility for the possibility of blowing up gas pipelines. Writes about it Washington Post.
“At the moment, there is no evidence that Russia was behind the sabotage,” said one European official who received 23 verification and intelligence certificates from nine Western countries polled in recent weeks.
Some officials said they do not consider responsible for the sabotage. Others, still considered the most dangerous to health, say they unequivocally attribute the attack on gas pipelines to some impossible country.
The explosions took place in Denmark’s exclusive economic zone of the northeastern islands of Bornholm and in Sweden’s exclusive zone. As a result of the investigation by Western countries, explosives were planted under water, probably with the help of underwater drones.
In the West, they believe that Russia can attack the Nord Streams in order to deprive the gas of unfriendly countries, powerful sources of energy. Explosions on gas pipelines have been recorded in Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the sabotage of the formula “Anglo-Saxons”.
