Doping, Marathon | For Kenyans doping
It is the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) that on Tuesday sends out a press release with the news about the doping verdicts for the Kenyans.
Kipyokei, who was the fittest woman in the Boston Marathon last year, will be banned for six years from 27 June 2022. The background is the discovery of the cortisone preparation Triamcinolone Acetonide, as well as the manipulation of documentation in connection with the doping test.
AIU alleges Kikyokei provided false documentation she claimed to be from the hospital.
All her results from October 11, 2021 will be disqualified, and she will thus be deprived of the victory in the Boston Marathon, it is stated in the press release from AIU.
Kipyokei won the marathon with a time of 2:24.45 – her personal best comes from the Istanbul Marathon in 2020, where she ran in 2:22.06.
Purity Rionoripo is banned for five years from and including 21 November 2022 after finding the banned substance Furosemide – she too is convicted of having manipulated documentation in connection with doping tests, and the result is back until 20 May 2022 to be annulled.
Rionoripo must also have presented a false prescription for the medicine, where traces of her doping test were found.
Rionoripo won the 2015 Copenhagen half-marathon with a time of 1:08.29 and won the Lisboa Marathon the same year with 2:25.09.
