ČHMÚ Brno: River flows were also below average in November
The November flows in the rivers, which are monitored by the Brno branch of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), reached 53 percent of the usual state. They were below the average for the fifteenth month in a row, in October they were at 56 percent. On blog the Brno hydrometeorologists were informed about this by Barbora Špinarová and Jáchym Brzezina.
The Brno branch is in charge of the south-eastern part of the republic – the South Moravian Region, a larger part of the Zlín Region and the east of the Vysočina Region. Flows were measured by experts at 73 measuring stations, and in November they corresponded to a long-term 53 percent of the monthly flow from 1991 to 2020.
Experts said the average monthly flow ranged between 50 and 100 percent at the 42 monitored stations. “A total of four observed stations had a monthly average above 100 percent. The remaining 27 stations were below the average of 50 percent,” said Špinarová and Brzezina.
The highest rtv. water level in November was reached by Brtnice at the Brtnice station, it was 116 percent of the long-term monthly flow, on the other hand, the lowest water level was recorded by experts as in October at the Velička at the Strážnice station. It was 3.16 percent of the long-term monthly flow. None of the stations exceeded flood activity levels in November.
The last time the flows were above the long-term average was last August, when they reached 116 percent. After that they were below average. For example, last September it was 81 percent, in November it was 55 percent. Below-average flows continued in January this year, when they reached 65 percent, in March it was 23 percent. It was the same in the summer months, in June the flows reached 49 percent, in July 47 percent.
