Cinnamon roll shop opens a permanent branch in Ghent: “Ghent people came to Antwerp and supported that they missed us” (Ghent)
Have a Roll’s cinnamon rolls are back in Ghent from Saturday, and this time with a permanent store. Dennis Van Peel (27) and Lisa Wynen (27) suspect, thanks to the success of their pop-up for another building near the Kouterdreef, in the Koestraat.
In December 2021, Dennis and Lisa opened a first Ghent pop-up of Have a Roll in the Kouterdreef, due to the success they already had in Antwerp with their concept. Their cinnamon rolls even proved to be popular in the Artevelde city, wanting irregulars and sold-out baking trays were no exception.
A year later, the best friends open a permanent establishment in the Koestraat. “The building in the Kouterdreef was actually much too big, so we wouldn’t stay there anyway. We went looking for a smaller building in the center and opted for the Koestraat, because there is more traffic there,” says Dennis.
Same concept
The large store is partly at the request of loyal customers. “There were people from Ghent who went to the Antwerp branch after the closure and guaranteed that they missed us in Ghent. That is also the case on social media.”
The concept of Have a Roll has remained the same, only the rolls are now also baked in Ghent, instead of certainly from Antwerp. You can still choose from nine types of cinnamon rolls and an assortment of takeaway meals. Two specials are also available each month. In December these are the Red Velvet roll and the Chocolate Glaze roll. All rolls are vegan.
The first forty people to buy a box of four cinnamon rolls on Saturday will receive a jar of cinnamon roll flavored almond butter.
