Why don’t the people of Böszörmény use the M35 motorway?
Hajdúböszörmény and Debrecen are about 20 kilometers and 28 minutes away, but when the morning traffic starts, the minutes into the city increase. The peak is inevitable. We got into the car at quarter past 8 on Friday morning to find out what the traffic was like on the M35 motorway. On the way out of downtown Debrecen, it was no surprise that oncoming cars were already congested and long lines formed on Böszörményi út. On the way to Józsá, on the other hand, the road was straight, and even in the lane turning onto the M35 highway, we were first at the red light. The weather was foggy, but it was clear that nothing but a few trucks on the highway were wearing down the asphalt. We got to the Bszörmény exit in 10 minutes, then we reached the town sign in 3 minutes, at peak time. Arriving at the settlement, we asked around, what is the reason that the people of Böszörmény do not go up to the track, avoiding the traffic jam that forms in the morning towards Józsa?
In the parking lot of a department store in the center of the small town, we talk with Antalné Varga and Imréne Zolnai, who agreed that it is difficult to erase the habit from people’s “heads”.
I think that the majority of residents still use highway 35 leading to Józsa because it is difficult to override the perception and habit. Even as an adult, I know that the price of the annual county track sticker is slightly more than HUF 5,000. In any case, it is typical of the people of Böszörmény that they only like what is free. There is a problem with mentality
– explained Imréné Zolnai. He believes that it is a financial problem for someone, so he does not buy the sticker, and because of this, he “feels” the highway number 35 for free.
– When the majority of my family members travel to Debrecen, they usually use the track. From seven o’clock in the morning, you can already feel that the traffic picks up and the cars start moving. In the old days, when my mother often had to be taken to the hospital, I had to leave by car at a quarter past 7 or even as early as 6 o’clock in order to get to Debrecen for the start of the appointment. Furthermore, now Józsa is also starting to be developed, traffic is coming to the main road from both sides, he said.
Mrs. Antal Varga did not put it any other way, and added: every morning when her husband leaves, he tells her that there will definitely be a traffic jam in the morning, that it will take an hour to get to Debrecen. – Public transport can also be called a problem, if the bus leaves Böszörmény during the peak traffic, it takes at least an hour, if not an hour and a half, to reach the county seat. Now, most of the young people are not here in the city, but in a bigger one looking for and finding a job, and even the majority of high school and university students come by car. But, for example, many people may leave by car because the workplace where they work reimburses them for fuel, but then I ask, why don’t you go on the highway? Even there, you use more fuel than if you were driving on highway 35 – asked Mrs. Antal Varga.
Hang cannot give a logical explanation as to why the track is not useful for motorists, since it is so much easier and faster to travel there, especially since it has several exits, so Debrecen can be approached from several directions.
– Recently, there have been many accidents on the main road, and they slow down access to Debrecen, because motorists cannot avoid them. If such a thing happens, traffic is sometimes diverted to an agricultural route, but that is not really favorable for a small city car, he added.
It costs HUF 430 per month
We met Csaba Szabó in front of a car parts store, he said that his partner goes to Debrecen every day, but they have already learned to leave before seven o’clock or after eight o’clock, and then it takes 22-25 minutes to get to the city center. He said that they rarely go up to the track, it is more difficult for them than if they chose the road section in Józsa. János Máté, on the other hand, gets to Debrecen on the track in ten minutes, as he puts it, he wears his tires there rather than waiting long minutes in traffic.
I regularly drive onto the highway when we go to the big city. It’s easier, faster, and the sticker is available. It’s worth it to get to work safely. I don’t understand those people who say that the highway is not useful because the sticker is expensive: it also costs HUF 430 per month. You can also assume that the consumption of the car is lower if we choose car number 35, but if we are stuck in a traffic jam, it consumes fuel from our car
he pointed out.
He added that he also bought the county highway sticker because there are more accidents in the winter.
