“From the beginning, we have maintained that it is better to act. You know our attitude towards the situation that has arisen. The key question fell on the support of the minority council. It will go through some of our internal process and we have responded that we will respond,” Lacina said.
For the time being, according to him, the resolution of the STAN regional committee is still valid, which says that the STAN negotiators should agree on the same coalition as the government one, that is, with Spolu and STAN. “And that no option with the support of the YES movement is possible,” he said.
The chairman of the Prague ODS, Marek Benda, said that Friday’s meeting did not concern any cooperation agreement at the coalition level. “We emphasized to them that this would be a matter of supporting the minority council, which would be composed of Spolu. From their point of view, this is no support for the ANO movement, so we’ll see how they react,” said the chairman of the Prague ODS, Marek Benda.
Pirates and Praha Sobě were also invited to a separate meeting on Friday, but they apologized and did not come. “I’m sorry, but I think it’s a little bit indicative of what they’ve been showing us so far, which is an unwillingness to do anything other than what they dictate,” Benda said.

Unsuccessful negotiations
The representatives of Spolu, Pirát and STAN have so far discussed a possible coalition to no avail. Together, after Tuesday’s meeting with the Pirates and STAN, they said that they are not conducting negotiations because of the Pirates’ approach and will now use the support of the council parties, with the SPD’s resignation, for the minority council.
The main dispute is about the distribution of seats in the eleven-member councils, Spolu wants a majority of six votes in addition to the post of mayor, which, according to the Pirates, does not correspond to Spolu’s election result, which was less than 25 percent of the votes.

The Pirates rejected Friday’s meetings, as well as the possibility of supporting a minority council. “We unequivocally rejected the support of the opposition agreement Spolu and ANO on behalf of the negotiation team of the Pirates. It blurs the boundaries of who is the coalition and who is the opposition, creating just the right conditions for a corrupt environment to thrive and not for quality work to be done for the people of Prague,” said the Pirates’ negotiator and representative Jana Komrsková.
The Spolu coalition won the elections in Prague this year, winning 19 mandates in the 65-member council. ANO finished second with 14 and Pirates third with 13 representatives. Čtvrtá Praha Sobě has 11 mandates, five representatives have STAN in fifth place. Sixth is the SPD with three mandates.
The minority council in the metropolis last ruled in 2013 and 2014, when it was formed by TOP 09 with the support of the ČSSD and the mayor was Tomáš Hudeček. It was created after the TOP 09 and ODS coalition broke up and the representatives dismissed Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS), who is running for the mayoral seat as the election leader of Spolu even now.
