Another pantomime for the appointment of the Director of the AASS
For the second year, the Board of Directors of AASS, the government and the majority stage the pantomime for the appointment of the Director of the Autonomous State Company for Public Services. The BoD, in accordance with the statute, with resolution no. 332 of 11.11.2022 (“favorable opinion and proposal to reconfirm the role of Director of the AASS for the three-year period 2023-2025”) does what it must, the Congress of State takes time, the majority decides (reconfirmation of a few months?). The same cliché as in 2021. AASS Resolution no. 237 of 10.6.2021 (“favorable opinion and proposal for reconfirmation as Director of the AASS for the three-year period 2021-2024”) and resolution of the State Congress no. 47 of 15.11. 2021 (“renewal of office and contract of the Director of the AASS”). Then the government, after underground controversies, renewed for just one year. Everyone knows the extraordinary institutional situation in which the country lives; laws – when they are needed – are like the elastic band on your underpants that you can pull at will. If the statute of a public body is involved, i.e. a law, which establishes the duration of an office and the bodies that must decide (the Board of Directors of AASS), the majority arrives by applying the golden power over Congress and the Board of AASS, and the unfortunate AASS Director is on the verge of defenestration. It matters little if the actors of the skit have been protagonists in the past of other skits in favor of one of their adherents struck in the heart and in the pride since the State Congress had not renewed him in a managerial position. Times change and the comfortable Christian Democrat slippers worn for three years lead to silence. Repubblica Futura doesn’t know if there is a minimum of dignity and coherence left in the Board of the AASS, the one that changes the budget result, that of the mess of the tariffs and the hole of 100 million. It is the same Board of Directors who invented the PUN, the fig leaf to hide the high electricity bills since December, which endorsed the stuttering and expensive garbage policies of Stefano Canti, the man of ecological islands. Then there is a human case, the government’s lame duck, the Secretary of State for relations with the AASS. With pride and anger he made us believe that increasing tariffs by more than 100% was a good and right thing because in San Marino we pay less and we are all rich (according to him). He said that in 2023 there would be no gas and he got his hands on the reconfirmation of the AASS Director after calling him to his bedside in the media reverse gear on tariffs. RF renews its invitation to the majority to courageously open a discussion table on the AASS. We need a new statute, an operational and economic project for the institution, ideas on the future of a strategic reality for the country. We understand how complicated it is to admit one’s mistakes, to accept that one’s men have made a disaster in the last three years but what is happening – and we don’t make it just a political issue – is not acceptable. RF returns to ask for concrete interventions to support businesses and citizens on high bills: from December 1st electricity has a high cost and turning on some Christmas lights is a gamble that could be paid dearly. RF will still continue to make proposals during the upcoming council session on the budget, the umpteenth proposals, remembering however that the gong of the last round has sounded.
