Kaufland opens its eighth store in the Republic of Moldova – 05.12.2022
Kaufland continues the expansion of its store network in the Republic of Moldova, opening the eighth store in the country, according to a press release sent to the editorial office. Located on Kyiv Street 7, in the Municipality of Chisinau, the new store will generate over 100 new jobs.
According to the project, the sales area will be approximately 2,500 m2, and the parking lot will have a capacity of 179 places, of which 8 places will be intended for people with special needs and 4 places for families with children. The store will operate from Monday to Sunday, between 8:00 and 23:00. Access to the store will be from Kyiv street and Bogdan Voievod street.
For the convenience of requests, the hypermarket is equipped with 10 cash registers. The new store offers access to a fresh fish department, extended fruit and vegetable department, self-service display – almost 30 meters long, bakery, frozen products department, staples, sweets, beverages, non-food products and drug store . .
At the Grill point outside, customers are awaited with an extensive menu of tasty, ready-made meals – roast chicken, pork neck steak menu, nuggets, crispy, cabanos, fried potatoes and others. We also have an outdoor shopping arcade where customers will find a pharmacy, money changers and a newsstand.
According to the quoted source, taking into account Kaufland’s international strategy, the company is announcing an investment in renewable energy and is starting to equip stores with photovoltaic panels. Thus, Kaufland on Kyiv Street will be the first store equipped with over 538 photovoltaic panels, which will generate green energy and contribute to reducing the impact on the environment, reducing annual CO2 emissions by over 126,403.00 tons. The photovoltaic panels will occupy a total area of approximately 2,800 m2 and will be located on the roof. They can produce, in absolute terms, approximately 268,942.00 kWh/year.
In line with the company’s commitment to the environment, the new store will have a charging station for electric cars, with the possibility of simultaneously charging two cars and bicycle racks. Also, the store is equipped with recycling, where you buy are rewarded on the spot for every sustainable gesture:
In the store parking lot, I want you to find a self-service machine, where you can recycle packaging in exchange for extra discount vouchers. I can collect three types of packaging here: PETs (with a volume of up to 3 liters), glass and aluminum cans (with a volume of up to 1 liter).
At the entrance to the store, in the special space arranged in the form of a turtle, customers can deposit the packaging of personal care or cleaning products for recycling. For this, they will be rewarded on the spot with 50% discount vouchers for the purchase of other new products from the monthly offer. Customers can deposit empty plastic bottles from shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body, face or hand cream, liquid soap, but also empty containers from cleaning products, such as clothes or dish detergents, cleaning solutions for the kitchen, bathroom, floor or windows. Vouchers are picked up from the Information Desk in the store.
In total, the company will invest approximately MDL 20 million in public infrastructure works and traffic solutions. Thus, Kaufland undertook the development of the sidewalk and the green space in the field, the complete restoration of the adjacent Nadejda Russo Street, the construction of the storm drain on Kyiv Street, the development of the courtyards and the construction of new networks.

In September 2019, Kaufland opened its first stores in the city of Chisinau, located in the Botanica and Ciocana sectors. In 2020, the first store in the north of the country was inaugurated, in the municipality of Balti, and in 2021, Kaufland still opened three stores, in Ungheni, on February 18, in Comrat, on March 11, and the third store in Chisinau, on the street Nicolae Testemițanu 3.
