Dutch rock photographer Anton Corbijn exhibits collected work at Antwerpse Handelsbeurs (Antwerp)
Met Icons an exhibition with photos by Anton Corbijn will soon be broadcast in the Handelsbeurs. The well-known Dutch rock photographer also portrayed the employees of Katoen Natie.
Anton Corbijn enjoys worldwide fame for his portraits of rock icons such as U2, Nick Cave’s Depeche Mode. After having previously exhibited in the FotoMuseum and the Loodswezen in Antwerp, a new exhibition by Corbijn will start in the Handelsbeurs from 17 December. Icons consists of three fragrances. Cemeteries shows intriguing black and white photographs of tombstones. In a person we see a collection of self-portraits of deceased greats from the music world that were photographed in Corbijn’s native village of Strijen. In addition, Corbijn shows a previously unpublished series from the early 1980s about Lenin’s visual presence in the USSR.
Meet together Icons is listed in the Handelsbeurs under the heading Cotton Nation – The people no exhibition yet. Fernand Huts, the boss of Katoen Natie, had Corbijn portray a cross-section of his staff. A book of both exhibitions will be published by Hannibal Books. (ID card)
