From Liberec to Prague by train in 70 minutes. The region has made a significant shift
The railway connection between Liberec and the capital is the same as it was five hundred years ago. The driving time of two and a half hours is comparable to the year 1938. I am glad that the newly prepared feasibility study for the Mlad Boleslav Liberec state border section has the ambition to change this unsatisfactory situation, pointed out the governor of the Liberec Region Martin Pta.
He hopes that, in the foreseeable future, passengers would travel between Prague and the Liberec region for a maximum of seventy minutes.
The region, together with the cities of Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou, has recommended an accelerated study with the preference for options with the construction of new electrified lines.
The economic efficiency of all the proposed variants is similar. I consider the contributions of this to be an important investment for the region in the future. We took that into account in our notes, said Pta.
For the regional councilor, the proposal that dealt with the construction of a monorail line was unacceptable. With the fact that the second track would lead along the standing route of the Rychnov dog, which is unsustainable from a long-term point of view, Pta added.
The council also did not like the option where travelers to Jablonec would transfer to a bus in Hodkovice nad Mohelkou.
Potential for accelerated
First in the section between Hodkovice and Liberec, deputy governor for transport Jan Svitk saw the potential for an accelerated connection.
There, a completely new pmo train route will be needed, along the highway. The original line leads through a detour, where the train covers the ten-minute journey by car at low speed along the route in no more than double the time. Today, the ride is so short, so that it is clear to the passengers that it will not be right to travel by train from Liberec, added Svitk.
According to him, thanks to the modernization of connections with Prague, travel to other cities in the region, such as Turnov or Semily, has also been speeded up. The Liberec region has received several studies for pipe memorials from the Railway Authority.
But still without consequences. During the study, for example, it recommended only going to Prague Mlad Boleslav and claimed that the connection between the capital and Liberec was not provable, said Filip Trdla, spokesman for the Liberec region.
This time, from the study, the Liberecký Region promises that there will really be great progress. One of these problems is also the government’s understanding of the program, on which it relies, noted Svitk.
According to the governor, the results of the study could be ready in the first quarter of the fifth year.
We are waiting for a clear decision of the Ministry of Transport, as a result we are ready to initiate an independent change to the Constitution of the Land Development of the Liberec Region, which will allow us to continue with the repair projects. In cooperation with the statutory city of Liberec and Sprvá eleznic, we will prepare an architectural joint on the right of the main tunnel in Liberec and the joint terminal of public transport, the so-called Central station, concluded Governor Pta.
