Euphoric Limoges, ASVEL in free fall
In an incandescent Beaublanc, and after Dijon and Monaco, Limoges CSP offered the skin of ASVEL (82-71) which it is ahead of today in the standings with a victory.
The Limougeauds, their public and in particular the Ultras Green who were celebrating their 10th anniversary, were euphoric at the end of the match with a 13-0 past the champion of France. All the more remarkable as they were up to 18 points behind (15-33). ASVEL could then follow the panache of a good Nando De Colo (15 points). But to go up the slope, Limoges was guided meanwhile by the exceptional performance of Bryce Jones author of 28 points at 8/15 on shots, and 25 of evaluation, well supported by Nicolas Lang and his 20 points, and a defense disturbing area. And so, as in the Euroleague match against Monaco, ASVEL cracked in the money time scoring only 8 points in the last quarter to take a tsunami from the other side of the field: 27 points.
Coach TJ Parker found one culprit or rather three: the referees.
” You find that normal ? 14 faults and more faults given a bit at the end. At 28. Almost double. Celebrate the analysis! On a match made a good. I’ll let you do the analysis. I let you do the analysis (bis). » Press briefing over.
Nevertheless, this fifth defeat in eleven days for Betclic Elte weakens the position of his team in the standings, even jeopardizing his participation in the Leaders Cup of Saint-Chamond. ASVEL will have to raise the bar which does not seem easy since it is offered this week Monaco, Tuesday, then Barcelona Friday, in the Euroleague, a competition where it is in even worse shape.
Unlike its evening opponent, the CSP is on a superb dynamic: 7 wins in the last 8 games. The Limougeaud coach, Massimo Cancellieri showed his most handsome son behind his beard.
“I’m happy to have won a match like that with a lot of personality. We deserved to win, we played an incredible match in terms of its intensity, the will of the team. »
