On Sunday, Prague 7 prepared Advent Skating in the Small Sports Hall at the Exhibition Centre. “The event has an accompanying St. Nicholas program. There is a creative workshop in which children can make masks of the devil, an angel and Nicholas, as well as a photo booth. The children will take home a photo and a small Santa gift as a souvenir,” said Martin Vokuš, spokesman for Prague 7. The event will start at 15:15 and will last approximately two hours. Free skates will be available to rent on site.
In Prague 10, local associations took over the organization of St. Nicholas events. “There are a total of four Mikulášskés prepared for children in the territory of Prague 10, each with a slightly different concept,” said district spokesman Jan Hamrník. On Saturday, from 10:10 a.m., the BR theater prepared a devil’s fairy tale, angel singing and a Santa gift. The adults will be waiting in the foyer of the theater before the children exit.
Festive Monday
The Monday Mikulášská will start on Desítka with the fairy tale Mikulášův kufr in the MANA theater in Vršovice. It will be followed by the traditional visit of the devil, an angel and St. Nicholas, who will bring gifts for both young and old. The event will start at 3 and 6 p.m. The Horror Theater and the cultural center Vzlet, which opened a year ago, also prepared their own afternoon program.
Prague 6 prepared a traditional St. Nicholas afternoon. “We will celebrate St. Nicholas together with children and parents in front of the Glass Palace on Náměstí Svobody. The event will take place on December 5 from 4 p.m. Good children who recite a poem or sing to Nicholas with an angel and a devil will receive a Santa gift. As part of the event, face painting or a special photo booth with an angel theme is also prepared,” says Prague 6 spokesperson Jiří Hannich, adding that children’s singing and dancing choirs will perform at the event.
Masks, carp, Christmas balls
Prague 8 has also prepared fun Monday afternoons for its little ones in the form of the Mikulášská nadílka on Ládví. “Live music, telling the story of Mikuláš and his troupe. Those interested should come to the Advent tree on Ládví, they will not only sing carols with us, but also enjoy the Christmas atmosphere with Santa Claus, giant angels and his company,” explained Martin Šalek from Prague 8.
On Monday, the Saint Nicholas celebration will take place on Old Town Square from 4 p.m. The children’s program includes a competition for the best St. Nicholas mask, caper catching, Christmas tree knitting and Christmas fiddling.
