The Central Bohemian Region together with Prague are today launching the fourth, i.e. the last, wave of tenders for operators of Prague Integrated Transport (PID) buses, which will run from December 1, 2024. It concerns the area of Příbram, Sedlčan, Vlašimi, Říčan, Zdib, Úval, Dolní Břežan , Cologne and Nymburk. The new operators should provide transport services for a period of ten years, informed Oldřich Buchetka, spokesman for the Integrated Transport of the Central Bohemian Region (IDSK).
The financial amount of the competitions, not reduced by acquisitions and other income, is 17.6 billion crowns and it is 343 million line kilometers. The region and Prague chose the size of the areas in such a way that even smaller carriers could apply for tenders. The deadline for submitting bids is February 14, 2023.
Tenders for carriers are announced in four waves, and in each of them there is competition for several areas that the Central Bohemian Region orders separately or together with the capital. The first wave concerned some areas around Prague or in Kladno and Rakovnick. The second Štěchovic, Brandýsa nad Labem and Jílového, Stochova or Votic, the third Slaného, Beroun, Čáslav, Mladá Boleslav or Mělník. According to Buchetka, the fourth wave is already the last.
The only evaluation criterion is the price, other requirements follow from the unified PID quality standard. At the end of 2009, both clients concluded ten-year contracts with bus carriers, in 2019 they were extended by five years due to the procurement of large-capacity buses. Contracts with carriers with a small range of services were extended by direct assignment.
The contracts for the operation of suburban and regional lines in both regions expire on November 30, 2024. The Central Bohemian Region and Prague, as public mass transport customers, must ensure the continuity of transport services in their territories.
