flooded streets and many homes without water
Early this Monday, an underground pipe gave way near the May 8-1945 crossroads in Dijon, in the Grésilles district.
Nearby streets were quickly flooded. Around 7:30 a.m., they were inaccessible.
According to our information, the Odivea teams quickly cut off the water supply.
The rupture would occur on a so-called “structuring” pipe, with a diameter of 40 cm. This kind of pipe is among the largest in the network. The rupture would be at the level of rue Jean-Moulin.
Many homes without water
The teams on site initially set out to stop the leak, a fairly complex maneuver with numerous valves. This leak, according to the first elements, would be due to “a landslide” added by “heavy rains on dry soil”.
For now, the entire neighborhood is deprived of water. The teams hope that the water will be restored by the end of the morning for the inhabitants.
Several streets in the neighborhood are closed to traffic, including rue Jean-Moulin and part of boulevard Paul-Doumer. Diversions have been put in place.
On the other hand, the intervention could last several hours because it is necessary to isolate the precise point of the leak to then repair.
